INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME

Health Care

Scholars should be in good health and capable of enjoying a vigorous course. Scholars should bring any special medication they may require.
All medical or emotional conditions and medicines taken are to be documented on the application. If a scholar has been hospitalized anytime within the last year, this must be documented on the application. Non-disclosure or falsifying this information may lead to dismissal. A doctor’s letter of permission to attend may be requested. Check with your physician to be sure your medication does not require written permission in order to be brought into the UK.

Special arrangements can be made with a private medical practice for those who might need non-emergency treatment, such as allergy shots. The scholar will need to pay for any private care. Scholars are accompanied by the Director or their deputy for all medical visits. Please identify all medication sent over with your scholar on the application form.

Any scholar with a medical emergency will be taken to Addenbrook’s Hospital, about 20 minutes away, for care. Although emergency care is free under England’s National Health Service, all Programme scholars are required to have health insurance against major illnesses and accidents. No health examination or vaccination is required for the Programme. Scholars who are disabled must be accompanied at all times by a live-in parent or relative because of staff limitations. The only special diets available are vegetarian meals.

“By the way, as a point of interest, Samantha is currently enrolled at the University of Edinburgh in a Masters of Honours History.  I do give credit to your program for helping her to get where she is.”
