ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

Admission
To be eligible for admission scholars must be rising freshmen, freshmen, sophomores, juniors or seniors in high school. Early application is encouraged as there is a rolling admission policy. High academic achievement is recommended. There are no cut-off dates for admission. Early application is advised for courses of your first choice and optional offerings.

Evaluation and Credit
Scholars participate in the Programme to broaden their knowledge and strengthen their skills as well as to apply for high school and college credit recommendations.

Each elected course consists of ten sessions of 90 minutes each. This is the length of a course with a weekly session of a normal academic term of ten weeks. British Cultural History, lectures and on-site commentaries, exceeds 15 hours. Scholars and parents should review credit requirements with their high school or college advisors before enrolling in the Programme. A syllabus of each course the scholar chooses will be sent in the late Spring. At the end of the Programme, each scholar receives a written evaluation of performance and letter grade for Courses I and III, not a transcript; a pass/fail grade for British Cultural History and a Certificate of Attendance.

The course syllabus and the lecturer’s in-depth evaluation of the scholar’s performance cannot be duplicated in future years, and are, hence, the responsibility of the scholar to copy and take to his or her school to be included in the school transcript. We encourage scholars to keep copies of these papers, in a place they will remember when they begin to apply to colleges.

“I have known and taught students who have experienced the scholars’ Programme at Cambridge, and have returned to the U.S. I have observed the cultural and social expansion of these high school students as they have returned far more prepared for the diversity and acculturation of the their impending college lives.”
